Post Description:

• Working in the Information and Communications Technology Department, the responsibility is to manage the service calls from the users of the Bioinformatics platforms.
• Likewise, it is also his/her responsibility to support any user –whether laboratory or researcher, showing specific needs within his/her competence scope.
• He/she will work in a team composed of two experienced system administrators, directly reporting to the team leader, who reports to the head of TIC department, the head of the Bioinformatics’ core facility and the coordinator of the Bioinformatics and Genomics program.

The main tasks of the Bioinformatics systems Administrator are the following:

• Solving, either directly or through external suppliers, those incidents that may arise in thedifferent bioinformatics platforms available at the Company.
• Managing the equipment and the operating systems.
• Management of the CPU storage.

Candidate requirements:

• education/training, related with the requested profile, will be appreciated.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computing or similar degree, is required. Any additional technical
• Minimum of three-year’s demonstrable experience as a Linux/Unix in Red Hat basis.
• especially in genomics and proteomics biomedicine research. Additional references will beappreciated.
• Spanish, spoken and written is also indispensable. Catalan, spoken and written, will be appreciated.
• An advanced level of English.

Technical knowledge:

• Minimum of three-year as administrator of: Apache; MySql; PostgreSQL; NIS;DHCP; SGE and/or other cues systems; NTP; Samba; NFS; Knowledge of PNFS/CFIS will be an advantage.
• Minimum of three-year experience in Linux applications.
• Minimum of three-year experience in High Performance Computing.
• Knowledge of SAN and NAS nets will be positively valued.
• Knowledge of programming scripting languages, mainly perl, php, bash shell in general, and python.
• Basic knowledge of hardware.
• Knowledge of administration and implementation of virtual enviorments.
• Experience especially in genomics and proteomics biomedicine research. Additional referencies will be appreciated.
  
  

Work Conditions:

• Annual Salary: from 28.000€ to 37.000€
• Work contract: To negotiate.
• Working hours: From 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
• Starting date: ASAP.
